Gameplay
Species: Hedgehog
Gimmick:
- Pochette has 25
Base HP, 2
Energy gain each turn, and a maximum backpack size of 5x7.
- Many space intensive items, such as Bows and Arrows, can not be found by Pochette.
- Scratch: 1
Energy Cost, deal 3
Damage to an enemy.
- Pets! Pochette has access to pets, little bugs and crustaceans that help her progress through the dungeon by either proving support or becoming the main sources of damage. Like a Carving, Summoning a pet has a separate cost from using one. Summoning a pet will always put them in front of you but are repositionable at any time. Enemies will attack the most front pet (or Pochette if she is in the front).
- Pets carry with them their own
HP Pool,
Energy, and status effects. If a pet is
used while out of
Energy, that cost will be paid by Pochette instead, if possible. If a pet dies, it can no longer be
used, and all effects from them are
disabled. Pets can be revived in combat by various items, or at end of combat automatically with 1
HP.
- Recall: 1
Energy Cost, returns each Pet back into the backpack.
- Select 1 of 3 starting pets at the start of a run. Additional pets may be found in deeper floors.
Sleep:
Sleep causes affected enemies to skip their next turn.
Zombie:
Zombie causes those affected to be
healed by
poison, and
hurt by
heals.
- Unique Items: In addition to pets, Pochette also has access to the Treat item type. Treats are held by pets in a similar manner to a Pouch, incurring various benefits ranging from extra
Block for every other pet summoned to being
used upon Scratch. These treats buff or change pets in a variety of ways, letting Pochette tailor each pet to her needs for any given build. Other unique items include Consumables used to heal or buff pets, and Accessories that provide benefits such as summoning pets for free, or having all pets attack.
Pochette Exclusive Items
Tips
- With low base stats, Pochette is highly dependent on her pets, either for defense or offense.
- As pets are their own characters, status effects are not shared between Pochette or each other.
- Many treat items have massive sizes for their effects. Combined with Pochette's smaller bag size, it's recommended for all treats to be stored on a pet, even when suboptimal if not actively detrimental.
- Each pet comes with their own bag shape and base on
use effect. Experiment to see which treats fit them the best.
- With the exception of a few pets, minimizing pet
damage taken will reduce the need to
heal them, whether from Consumables or the healer.
- You can recall pets; either for 1 energy each or 1 energy for all pets. This allows you to remove negative status effects without a Cleansing Potion or reuse powerful on-summon triggers.
Lore
When Pochette was born her home fell victim to King's ransacking and conscription of soldiers. However, the baby porcupine was sent down the Dandelion river and found by hermit crabs, being raised as one of their own and befriending the beasts and bugs of The Bramble. One day an encounter with an injured Duffel would lead to Pochette aiding the Patrol, guiding them through the Bramble with her knowledge of its denizens.
History
- Pets used to be able to hold and use normal items. Moving Pochette or her pets around used to cost 1 energy.
